With apologies to all who've seen me make this recommendation before, get a code reader (like the Creator C310, for $40-50 according to recent posts) that can display live data from your wheel speed sensors. Of course, this is after the break-in. I don't know if the dealer in the USA is allowed to do this. A European Spec 530i has an electronically limited speed of 250kph. On the autobahn we drove for hours on end at speeds between 100 and 120. When we got the car back here we couldn't believe how rediculous it is to keep such a car down to 80mph.
At 146K miles my bmw 528i e39 finally had transmission service. There was no leak around the pan before the service. So 2.5K miles driven after the service, the rear side of the pan is now leaking oil. The mechanic applied sealant with the cork gasket. My mechanic will redo the job but I will spend for labor and gasket again. TN1Ju.
