and the power dissipation will be about. Pd = 2402/R 240 2 / R. So for 2mA, R = 108K 0.53W (you could use 110K 1W or go slightly up in current and use 100K 1W) A high voltage resistor is required if you want reliability and safety (because the mains can have huge transients on it), and it likely should be a fusible type.

8 posts · Joined 2017. #1 · Nov 12, 2017. Hello, new to the forum. Recently i decided to start upgrading the looks of my 06 2500hd. Ive started with LED headlights and backup lights, tow mirrors, and larger/ more aggressive tires. I am trying to go full LED on all my exterior lights. So i am interested to see what LED's some of you went with.
The rating on the LED's data sheet is the MAXIMUM it can handle, not a nominal value, or how much it always draws - LEDs don;t work like that. When an incandescent bulb says it is 15ma, it draws 15ma, give or take. The fixed value on an LED is how much voltage it drops, when the LED says 3.5 volts, it will drop 3.5 volts across it.
I need input or a DIY for installing led headlights (high and lows) with load resistors. Specially, where is the best place to mount the resistor??
LED Headlights HELP!!!!! Okay Guys, I need some Help right away, because like many of you, I was going to take apart my Factory SXT Headlights and Paint the insides of them, but Baking them didn't go well, lol and no matter how many times I tried, I just couldn't get them apart, so my Girlfriend just went ahead and Bought me New Black

Those require a rectifier either externally or internally in conjunction with a load resistance. Generally speaking, unless a particular bulb is part of a signalling circuit, or wired in conjunction with other bulbs, (i.e., "isolated"), you won't need a load resistor (s). But, as JR points out, more and more the vendors are offering LEDs with
1 resistor, per side, in the rear worked for me. I replaced all my signals (4 rear, 2 front) with 3157 SMD LED bulbs. I would order their LED compatible blinker. This will control your blink rate, and then you not wiring in a load resistor.
R = 4.5 V 0.8 A = 5.6 Ω. Don't just pick a common 1/4W resistor. You should always, but especially with high currents like this, check what power it will consume. P = V × I = 4.5 V × 0.8 A = 3.6 W. So the answer is a 5.6 Ω /5W resistor. That's much of a waste however. Both LED and resistor see the same current, then their power ratio is the TOYOTA Genuine 2019 & Newer Tacoma Short Wheelbase Tailgate Lock (PK3B6-35JS0) $159.44.
